Bob Thibodaux to represent Louisiana

July 2, 2002 -- Tour des Trees is an annual fundraising event for the Tree Research and Education Endowment Fund (the TREE Fund), the merged organization of the International Society of Arboriculture Research Trust and the National Arborist Foundation. Since 1992, Tour des Trees has raised more than $1.7 million to support tree research and technology transfer. Last year alone, the Tour raised over $420,000.

Each rider on the Tour is required to raise a minimum of $3000 for the full tour. The cost of the Tour is offset through corporate sponsorships so the money raised by riders can go to support urban tree research and education. Contributions are fully tax deductible under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

In 2002, the Tour's goal is not only to raise $400,000, but to let all of North America know the importance of urban trees and the need for research and education to promote their well-being. After leaving Seattle, this year's Tour will head north along the Puget Sound, crossing over the Canadian border into Vancouver, BC, then ferrying to Vancouver Island and traveling south to Victoria. Another ferry trip returns the Tour to the United States to Port Angeles, WA, on the Olympic Pennisula and continues south to Olympia before returning to Seattle.

Please consider sponsoring Bob with your tax-deductible contribution.  Your donation will go directly to the TREE Fund and help ensure that cities and towns around the world will be filled with healthy, beautiful, life-supporting trees for generations to come!  You can make your pledge by going to the Tour des Trees website.
