Future plans will allow for photographs and web-site links to feature our Tree Cities.

To qualify for Tree City USA, a town or city must meet four standards established by The National Arbor Day Foundation and the National Association of State Foresters. 

These standards were established to ensure that every qualifying community would have a viable tree management plan and program. 

It is important to note that they were also designed so that no community would be excluded because of size.

Abita Springs, LA (7 years)

Alexandria, LA (8 years)

Amite City, LA (3 years)

Barksdale Air Force Base (12 yrs)

Baton Rouge, LA  (10 years)

Camp Beauregard  (6 years)

Covington, LA  (8 years)

Crowley, LA  (15 years)

Denham Springs, LA  (1 year)

Hammond, LA  (9 years)

Harahan, LA  (2 years)

Kentwood, LA  (1 year)

Lafayette, LA  (11 years)

Mandeville, LA  (7 years)

Monroe, LA  (13 years)

Morgan City, LA  (1 year)

Morganza, LA  (1 year)

Natchitoches, LA  (1 year)

New Orleans, LA  (20 years)

New Roads, LA  (7 years)

Oakdale, LA  (4 years)

Pearl River, LA  (5 years)

The four standards are as follows:

A Tree Board or Department

A Tree Care Ordinance

A Community Forestry Program with an Annual Budget of at least $2 per Capita

An Arbor Day Observance and Proclamation

 

Tree City USA, sponsored by The National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters, provides direction, technical assistance, public attention, and national recognition for urban and community forestry programs in thousands of towns and cities that more than 93 million Americans call home.
